Such a romantic image and so REAL, in addition to being really well done!

Location
This photo was taken in my home, in my favorite room - the sunroom. This room always is a calm, peaceful place and it was a beautiful, calm snowy evening outside as well.Time
This photo was taken during the evening around 10:30 p.m. While having a glass of wine with my husband, I noticed how pretty the room looked with our wine glasses and decided to set up the shot to try to reflect the mood and tone of the evening - romantic, simple and beautiful.Lighting
I used the lighting from the tree lights, candles and dimmed, ambient light from the room. This was shot with a slow shutter speed (15.0 seconds) with an aperture of f8 and ISO 100.Equipment
This image was shot with a Nikon D600 with the Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8G ED lens. A tripod was used because of the slow shutter speed. A remote cable was also used to minimize camera shake.Inspiration
As mentioned, this is my favorite room in our home, and Christmas is my favorite holiday. We were sitting in this room enjoying a glass of wine when I noticed how pretty the room looked and felt compelled to try to capture it in an image. It is still one of my favorite photos and each time I see it, it reminds me of that very special evening.Editing
This was shot as a JPEG so there was minimal processing. I did a little editing with Lightroom including cropping, increasing contrast slightly and increasing clarity. In my camera bag
My D600 and 24-70 are my "go to" favourites. I also use a Sekonic light meter to assist me in determining proper exposure and grey card to set custom white balance. My tripod is always never far away!Feedback
I feel that photography isn't always a planned thing. I didn't plan to take this photo. I just noticed how beautiful the scene looked and just wanted to capture the scene and the mood/feeling of the evening. Photography is as much, if not more, about emotion and feeling than it is about being technical, to me, it should evoke a feeling and/or a memory. My best advice is to really "look" at the things around you. You will find beauty when you least expect it and the real art of photography is, in my opinion, capturing whatever strikes you as exceptional. Some advice I would give to other photographers besides technical advice such as ensuring proper exposure, careful composition and filling the frame would be to enjoy the process. Photography is a journey that never finishes. Every shoot is a new opportunity to experiment and learn.
