At sunrise, the banks of the bayou across the street where my parents live turn into practically a whole new world. It is almost ethereal, with the haze created by the sun's first rays as they cut through the mistiness of a humid summer morning that has you drenched in sweat without even feeling especially warm before the sun is even high enough to have the audacity to shine at full capacity. It seems the damselflies are not especially fond of mornings - they were less inclined to take off into flight at the slightest hint of my approach, allowing me to get closer than I might otherwise.
