Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken from the Boise foothills in the winter. I live in Boise and am self taught in photography. I focus on long exposure night photography mostly.

Time

This shot was during my first year of doing night photography. I remember climbing through snow banks walking up the terrain to find what I thought would make a nice shot of Boise, Idaho all lit up in the back ground. It was close to zero degrees Fahrenheit that night my fingers were numb by the end of the shoot.

Lighting

I like dark skyscrapers. So if the moon is out that can make it more challenging to do night photography. I hab

Equipment

I used a Canon 5d mkii on a tripod. The lens was a Rokinon 14mm f2.8.

Inspiration

The city of Boise looked so cool all lit up and I was inspired to capture it to show others.

Editing

I do post processing to enhance the existing colors.

In my camera bag

I usually have 2 lens, lens cleaning kit, remote shutter release, extra battery, flashlight and snacks.

Feedback

My advice is to shoot everything you think might be interesting and do it as much as possible. This is what got me familiar with my gear and settings.
