This photo was taken at a very awesome, very large graveyard in Massachusetts.Time
I can't quite remember the details of it but I do remember I was killing time one afternoon in late winter. It was a foggy day and I knew if there was any place that would make killer shots (pun kind of intended) it would be a cemetery.Lighting
I love fog. I love how light becomes so much softer and ambient through the fog. Where I live is filled with tall, tall trees and because of it, it's rare for such thick fog to roll in especially around this time of day.Equipment
I shot this with my Canon 60D using a 70-300mm lens.Inspiration
I was looking for a place to shoot where I wouldn't be bothered. I'm very self-conscious about my work and my process and I don't like having people around me. Where was I going to find a place more peaceful than a graveyard?Editing
This actually used a lot less post-processing than usual. I just tweaked the white balance and curves and sharpened it a bit.In my camera bag
My kit now consists of a Canon EOS 6D, my trusty 70-300mm, and my Tamron 28-75mm. I also carry around an external flash and an emergency remote.Feedback
Don't worry so much about capturing a specific moment. If you go into a place with the expectation of a certain image, you'll likely be disappointed by whatever you do find. Instead, stay in the moment and capture moments as they come.
