A freezing cold day walking up near Boulder, Colorado's famed "Flatirons." There are actually five flatirons all told, but only three are visible in this shot.
In this shot the mist over the mountains is from snow blowing over them.

Location
This photo was taken back in 2013, on a miserably frigid December winter day. It was taken on an older iPhone, and edited to be black and white because I thought the mountain scenery looked more dramatic what with the powdery snow swirling about the high peaks!Time
I can't remember for certain because it has been so long, but I know it was sometime in the mid afternoon.Lighting
Since this image was taken on a midwinters day, the light at that time was very "harsh," and glaring. It was a mixup of too much shadow, or not enough light. The color image of this photo turned out a bit "washed," looking, or even, over exposed, so that is why I decided to turn the image to black and white.Equipment
Simple, an old iPhone!Inspiration
The inspiration behind this photo was simply seeing Boulder's iconic Flatirons on a winters day. As a citizen of Boulder I see these Flatirons literally every day, every season. I will always love the way the Flatirons look after a snowstorm, with a fresh coat of snow, or how dramatic they look on a misty, rainy, gray day. But I love gazing at the Flatirons the most when spring and summer roll around, and the whole of Chautaqua Park is cloaked in wildflowers- gorgeous!Editing
Nope!In my camera bag
I would normally be caring my camera with me throughout most of the year, but I do not like to shoot many pics during the winter (cold hands!!), so I rely on my trusty phone camera!Feedback
My advice is simple. Be mindful of how certain types of weather can make for a stunning image. Carry your camera with you at all times, or even just your phone. Mist on mountaintops will always make for a gorgeous image- always.
