Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Port Moody,BC,Canada on the Inlet Trail. This is my favorite place to photograph locally as the views, weather and wildlife always changes.

Time

The morning sun was just peaking through the morning mist about 10PM ...I love winter mornings as the best light is at such a civilized time!

Lighting

The sun was directly behind the direction the birds were taking off from.

Equipment

This shot was from an Olympus OMD EM5 Mark II using a LUMIX 45-200mm zoom at 200mm. It was my first day with the camera and I wanted to use a familiar lens.

Inspiration

I noticed the Snowgoose and really wanted to get a picture of it taking off. My dog, totally oblivious to the wildlife, ran into the water for a swim. I turned just in time to catch the shot.

Editing

I usually use Topaz clarify after processing from raw with DXO optics Pro.

In my camera bag

I always have an Olympus 45mm f1.8, Sigma 19mm f2.8, Olympus 12-50mm and the LUMIX 45-200mm

Feedback

Always set your camera up for the type of shot before you get on location. Preparation is critical when things unfold quickly.
