Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken in Québec city, Canada

Time

It was a december morning. The morning right after the first snow fall of the year.

Lighting

I didn't really had the opportunity to choose the light because i met the fox on a trail. He looked at me, stayed for 45 seconds and left as he came. It was a cloudy day with lot of fresh snow so I knew i'd have a good light.

Equipment

The shot was taken handheld with a canon 7D and a Sigma 150-500.

Inspiration

I was on a hunt for bird pictures because the snow made the woods gorgeous. I was very surprised to meet this fox as i didn't think there was any in that area. His look was an inspiration

Editing

As I shoot in RAW, i was able to rework the light and the cropping.

In my camera bag

I don't carry much photo equipment in my bag. Just my Canon 7D, 2 lenses and a flash. My lenses are a standard canon 55-250mm and a Sigma 150-500mm. I also carry some sort of camouflage puncho ( my son calls it my pine costume ) and a little bench for the wait.

Feedback

As I was walking when i met this fox and he stayed for about 45 seconds, i always try to have a default setup for the general light. So i can manage to have pictures in case of surprise meeting with wildlife.
