Congrats for winning my People Protesting challenge! This one really made me pause. I loved the focus on the reactions, it really gives the image another layer of interest.

Thank you so much Matthew! This was taken in great haste as I navigated among the people on the street and shot 'blind' as I saw this scene unfold - it payed off well on this occasion. Thank you for running the challenge!

Behind The Lens

Location

Approaching the end of Bond Street where it meets north Street in Brighton UK. There was a Tar Sands protest going on outside HSBC bank and I captured this image shooting blind as I was approaching.

Time

Late morning

Lighting

The natural lighting is fairly soft as the sun hasn't cleared the buildings in the background.

Equipment

Cannon S110

Inspiration

The look on the woman's face as she walked passed the protest.

Editing

RAW converted to greyscale with some adjustment to clarity contrast and tonal balance. Dodging and burning.

In my camera bag

Nikon D40 SB-400 flash and sometimes a Cannon S110

Feedback

Keep shooting.
