Location
This photo was taken at Point Peron in Rockingham, Western AustraliaTime
We arrived at around 7am and started shooting around 7.30am just as the sun w appeared behind the outcropLighting
The light came from the sun positioned behind Nina and a small reflector was used to bounce some light back into Nina's face.Equipment
I used a Nikon D800 with a 24-70mm f2.8 lens, handheld and a small white reflectorInspiration
I loved the warm tones in the background. This was an area where the sea had eroded the ground and formed a small cave. As Nina came to the front of the cave her face lit up from the light reflecting off the sand. I added a small reflector to add even more light to her face.Editing
Minimal post processing, adjusted white balance, cropped, removed blemished, lightened the eyes and increased vibrancy in the eyesIn my camera bag
I only work with two lenses for my D800, a 24-70mm f2.8 and a 70-200mm f2.8, speedlight (hardly ever used outdoors), spare batteriesFeedback
Look for areas of open shade where the ground can be used as a reflector, move the model from the shade towards the light ground and wait for the face to light up!
