Location
"Spellbound" was taken just outside the small town of San Quirico d'Orcia, Italy. The small building is the Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta, which is over 400 years old.Time
This was taken just a few minutes after sunrise. The previous day was rainy and the valleys filled with fog overnight. Once the sun rose, it lit the fog up and created an ethereal glow.Lighting
Since I was facing into the sun and it was very bright, it was important to expose for the highlights in the scene. It was very bright overall, but if the highlights were blown out there would be no recovering them in post processing.Equipment

Everything in Tuscany inspires me to take photos! It is simply one of the most amazing places that I have been, and there are photo opportunities in every direction!Editing
This was a relatively easy photo to process. I made some balancing adjustments in Lightroom, and then in Photoshop I adjusted contrast and color with some curves layers. I also applied a small orton effect to increase the dreamy feel of the scene.In my camera bag
I have a fairly small kit. I have a Nikon D610, Nikon 16-35 f4, Nikon 24-85 f3.5-5.6, Nikon 70-200 f2.8 (super sharp!) and Rokinon 14mm f2.8. I use a circular polarizer, 4 stop and 10 stop ND filters. That's about it!Feedback
The most important part is being prepared. You need to arrive well ahead of time to your scouted location to make sure you don't miss the best light. I also encourage people to move around, use different focal lengths and compositions. You don't want 50 of the same exact shot.
