From Belize... was sitting on an old rotted dock overlooking the ocean sunset and eating salsa out of a can and these two natives paddle by. Was a pure moment of peace and relaxation with some quiet island music playing off in the distance and a cold beer in my hand.

Sitting on an old dried up wooden dock with my husband and a sweet, friendly, random island dog while eating some fresh salsa and chips and sipping a cold local beer. We were staying on the small island of Caye Caulker off the coast of Belize.Time
Evening, we sat out watching the best sunsets every night we were there!Lighting
Sunset and sunrise give you the best lighting outside! "The golden hour." You can never go wrong with the rich colors that you can achieve during these times of day!Equipment
I use a Sony Alpha 65 and a 55-200 f 4.5-5.6 zoom lens. I hold my breath sometimes when I shoot to give an even stiller photo. I didn't have a tripod on vacation so I put my elbow on a bent knee to give stability. No flash was needed.Inspiration
The sunsets were so breathtaking and happened so quickly. Being closer to the equator than where I am from, I was drawn to the sunsets every night. The sun appears much larger there. Once it reaches the horizon it takes about two short minutes for the sun to sink down and vanish out of site. While we were waiting, two local men paddled by in their canoe and it made for a gorgeous photo opportunity! With the settings I chose and shooting into the sun, they appeared as silhouettes.Editing
I use Adobe Lightroom during post processing! I didn't have to do much to this photo as I was able to draw these colors out with just my camera. I used iso 100, shitter speed at 1/800, and aperture f/13 with a focal length of 550/10. I set it on a color pop to bring out the vivid oranges. In my camera bag
I carry a Thinktank backpack that has handy access zipper pockets from the sides of the bag. My camera, 3 different lenses with room for a couple more and many gadgets fit nicely. I have extra batteries, memory cards, a remote control, cleaning kits, a grey, black, and white WB reference cards, a waterproof cover and a mini pad of paper to take notes on places that make great photo shoots I have come across.Feedback
Find a nice body of water and find a spot with a nice view aiming west for great sunsets. Whoever gets between you and the sun will have a nice dark silhouette effect if you play your camera settings in manual mode as I previously described. Get creative and learn all your camera can do. Have fun, there is so much beauty to capture in this world!
