Location
It was taken on Loloata Island, outside of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The leafless trees grow on the top but lost all their leaves due to long dry weather. This photo is one of several shots I took while out testing my first DSLR - a Canon 70D.Time
It was in the evening - around 7:00 pm and the purple sky created by the dusk light looked preety at the bachground.Lighting
I do photography as a hobby - by self learning. With a new DSLR with many features to learn, I tried as much but was clue-less. By now, things are OK, though composition is still a problem with me. The importance of ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture or postprocessing was never registered in my knowledge by that time.Equipment
Camera: Canon 70D, hand held, no flash - because I didn't have a tripod than.Inspiration
Both the subject and the background - the small trees (still green and alive) without leaves - was of interest especially finding them on a tropical island and the pink colours of the evening sky.Editing
Yes - did post process in lightroom (basic overall edits)In my camera bag

Use a tripod and shoot in manual if you can. Use the Creative Zone settings (Aperture Mode) if you are not sure.
