I've always like the historic architecture throughout Savannah, especially the downtown area. Being the tourist town that it is, there's always too many people walking around to get good shots of the area w/out being obstructed in some way. Plus, I always wanted to shoot Savannah at night. So, I went downtown late one night, didn't get there until about 1230am or so and was down there until 4am shooting. River Street is one of the main tourist spots in the city and it's impossible to get a shot of River St without people in there somewhere....unless you're down there at 4am after all the bars have closed.Lighting
I've been working with shooting black and white more and have really been enjoying it. With the old architecture in Savannah I knew black and white would look amazing. The cobblestone street, trolley tracks and pre/post-civil war architecture in this area of town, I wanted to go for an "older era" type look, and it did not disappoint.Equipment
This shot was taken w/a Canon EOS 60D, 18-55 Canon lens, no flash. I don't remember settings.Inspiration
As I was walking through downtown Savannah looking for things that caught my eye to shoot, I saw that River St was empty....which in 9 years I never saw! The look just came to me and I knew I had to capture it.Editing
I honestly have not idea what this means. I just point and click the camera and makes adjustments as necessary to capture the look I'm wanting. In my camera bag
My camera bag always has my Canon EOS 60D with the following lenses: 18-55mm, 35-80mm, 80-200mm and a 50mm, and extra battery and extra sim cards. I hadmy tripod w/me this night b/c I knew that shooting at night and needed extended apeture settings I would need the camera to remain still.Feedback
I honestly wouldnt' know where to start w/this. I have never taken any classes and everything I do w/the camer is through trial and error. Get out there and shoot. by following photographers here on Viewbug and looking at the endless number of incredible shots I see, it gives me ideas on how to set up shots in the future. Practice, practice, practice.
