Location
In Sukhothai, Thailand during the Roy krathong festival. It was taken at the temple Park just by luck when I noticed the boy playing in the dirt on the other side of the barbed wire (used to keep visitors out of that particular area I guess). It really was a spur of the moment photo as just after I took the shot, his mother yelled to him in Thai to come back behind the barbed wire fence.Time
It was just around lunchtime on a nice sunny day where we were walking around all morning taking photos of other temples as you can see in the background.Lighting
Nothing note worthy, I just make sure that during the day, the sun is not directly in the photo to avoid exposure issues common with smart phone cameraEquipment
I just used a Samsung galaxy s6 smartphone as I do with all my travelling photos. As I mentioned it was a spur of the moment photo opportunity and by the time I set up a bulky dslr, the child could of left the scene or have been scared awayInspiration
I saw the opportunity for great composition of the innocent child playing in the dirt, with the temple in the background, all while all being foreshadowed by the barbed wire, which I believed would create a real thought provoking image.Editing
To induce further thought provoking by the viewer I decided to go with a simple black and white scheme in the post processing. Just with phone apps within my smart phone. In my camera bag
When travelling, I just take my Samsung s6 camera phone and a water proof bag. It's quick focus and camera shortcuts allow me to take amazing photos in a spilt second to capture momentary photo opportunities like this one.Feedback
Worry less about bringing so much equipment. Learn composition and just travel! There are so many beautiful people and opportunities just waiting to be captured all around the world :)
