The photo was taken in the street where I live, I live in the village of Buitenpost in the north of The Netherlands. I am a self taught photographer, who tries to learn from others and tries to improve the quality of pictures.Time
It was on a saturday morning in December 2015; we were walking the dogs and when we returned home the sky was really red and first I took my Pentax K10D and I ran out of the house. The battery was down, I forgot to reload the battery. So I ran back in the house to take my Nikon P610, I owned at that time. Then I was able to take the picture.Lighting
It was stormy weather; I had little time to think about lightning etc because I has to take my second camera to take the picture. So I used the Auto Option of the camera; I was right, a few minutes later the red colour had vanished. It was a lucky shot.Equipment
Just the Nikon P610, no flash.Inspiration
It was a very unusual sight; the stormy weather with the very red sky; I wanted to give others that emotion I felt at that saturday morning in December. A photo is for me sharing emotion and beauty.Editing
This photo is not heavily processed; I only used the sharpen option and I increased the contrast of the image. In my camera bag
I used to have a Nikon P610; than I was lucky to win a photo contest and the first price was a Olympus OMD 10 Mark II with a zuiko lens. This Olympus camera is my first option to take when travelling and with holidays; I am very content with this camera, it has all the options I need. The Nikon I have sold. For pictures with more time I use my Pentax K10D, with this Pentax I have a 24-70 mm lens and a Sigma 100-300 mm lens. It give me the opportunity to learn from the technique of taking pictures.Feedback
Sometime you are lucky to take a shot like this; but I like to take pictures at the beach and at the Waddensea, I like the outdoors. The Waddensea is a tidal sea; It is very important for migratory birds and a birthing ground for many fish species. Nowadays it is a Unesco World Heritage Site. The weather changes all the time with the light. Light is very important, do not hesitate to get out when the ligth is really good. And be patient. And try harder, believe in yourself; it takes you to take a picture.
