Congratulations!! I chose you as a winner, although I do have to say, there were a lot of wonderful entries. But I was always drawn to this image. You've really captured it beautifully!

Thank you, I was trying to get something for the water droplets on flowers competition, this is one of my most popular shots. Helped some by my wife being a floral designer.

Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken at home, I am fortunate my wife is a floral designer so I get plenty of opportunity to do still life with flowers.

Time

I think this was taken relatively early in the day.

Lighting

Lighting is natural sunlight through my apartment window.

Equipment

I used my Canon 1100D with the standard 18-55 lens.

Inspiration

Being a newcomer to Viewbug I was trying to get some shots to enter some of the competitions, this one was intended for the competition about water droplets on flowers, without an early morning dew to hand, I simply wet some flowers that were available, and ended up with this one.

Editing

I rarely do post processing, having grown up with 35mm film, I still work on the what you see is what you get approach so apart from occasional cropping most of my photographs here on Viewbug are as taken.

In my camera bag

I currently only have my basic Canon 1100D with the default 18-55 lens and I have a 70-300 zoom (the cheap one, left over from my film EOS kit). for occasional use (snaps) I rely on my iPhone but always wish I'd had the Canon to hand if I see something I really want to capture.

Feedback

This shot has proven to be one of my most popular on Viewbug, even though it was a little bit of experimentation, so I would say to others just keep trying, that great shot is only a click away, play with the equipment, light and available subjects until you get somethng you like. This one sure I would have like to be able to use professional backgrounds, a better macro lens or studio lighting for some different type of images, but as I did not have those, I stuck with the available light and my window ledge and ended up with a winner.
