Location
This photo was taken at the Tulsa Zoo. I visit the zoo regularly as it is very near my home.Time
It was taken shortly after the zoo opened (1000-1030). I practically had the place to myself. It was late November so it was comfortably cool and the jaguars where just napping like cats do. I don't know what caught this jaguar's attention to cause her to look up.Lighting
The lighting is just natural sunlight with a bit of cloudiness (not enough cloudiness to change any settings). I did not need to add to the already beautifully lit cats.Equipment
I used Canon EOS REBEL T5, EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II, f16, 1/30, ISO 400.Inspiration
There really wasn't an inspiration for this photo, it was more of a right place right time photo. I love taking photos of large cats and domestic cats. Having a few cats at home gives me a lot of practice to photograph these quirky personality filled creatures.Editing
For this photo of the jaguars I really did very little processing. With a little help from Canon's Digital Photo Professional 4, I brought up the contrast just a bit. Post processing took all of 30 seconds. In my camera bag
I have the standard kit that came with my Canon EOS Rebel T5 (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II, EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III, and EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II, this lens I purchased separately. I also carry a couple point and shoots (Canon PowerShot ELPH 340HS and Sony Cyber-shot G). These cameras are handy when you go to places that do not permit "professional" equipment.Feedback
My advice is to visit your local zoo. It provides a great opportunity to photograph many different subjects, from animals to flowers. I would also bring buckets of patience because these types of photos do not happen everyday.
