Location
There's a little woodsy area near me by my local pond in Rhode IslandTime
This day was a cloudy day in September. It was about late morning/noon time. Right before my photography class haha!Lighting
Because it was a cloudy day I was really happy that my photo was going to come out gloomy and mysterious looking. Plus having tree cover made it even darker and more successful for what I envisioned for this photo. And I loved that the shadows were more natural from my model then the sunlight forcing the shadows.Equipment
I used my Canon T5, my own steady arms, a mirror, and my model aka good friend of mine to be involved for this photo.Inspiration
This photo was used for a photo essay of reflections I did for school. I was inspired of other mirrored photos I've seen floating around the internet. My main goal for this was just to have the wooded area blend in with the reflection. I honestly didn't realize that the tree behind me lined up with the tree behind my friend. By the end of this, my message for this photo was to say that we're part of nature.Editing
Honestly I'm not a fan of editing photos. The only editing I'll do is just adjust the levels in Photoshop. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon T5 with my lens kit and my 75-300mm lens. I know I should have backup batteries and SD cards but this one battery lasts for hours and my SD card is a 32GB. Plenty of time and space. Also I always carry my cleaning kit that includes a cleaning spray for the glass, cleaning cloth, and my carbon cleaning pen (I recommend getting a carbon pen so cool!)Feedback
Go to salvation army to buy a mirror. smash it, but please be careful. grab the most interesting shape and ask your model to join you into the woods (try not to sound creepy or anything, just say its your crazy photography self who needs to try this shoot like I had to haha!) or a different nature scene that has the same scenery all around. Have your model carefully hold the mirror covering the face or maybe a different part of the body.
