I took this photo at our cottage at Bark Lake in the Quebec Laurentian region. Bark Lake is known as the Jewel of the Laurentians. It's a gorgeous lake surrounded by beautiful mountains. This unspoiled lake is a throwback to the '70's. It's a 6mi. ride down the lake to get to the off-grid cottage.Time
Just before early morning golden hour. I am an early riser, especially when I'm at the cottage. This is the best opportunity to capture flora, fauna and the ever changing day as it wakes up. I was standing at the end of my dock where this photo was taken at 5:00 am. The morning mist was flowing over the water and hiding in the surrounding mountains. I'm glad I was able to capture this beautiful moment in time.Lighting
During any golden hour you have to either take a lot of photos, change lighting during post processing or just be like Henri Cartier-Bresson, pick the decisive moment.Equipment
I used a Canon 7D, a 28-70 mm lens. That's pretty much it.Inspiration
It's not a choice, the morning draws you out with its beauty, silence and fresh air. You are alone with nature.Editing
Minimal. Adjusting the exposure to reflect what was in my mind's eye.In my camera bag
Camera, 28-70, prime 50 1,4f, 70-200mm lenses. Extra batteries. Memory cards. Lens cleaning cloth. ND and polarizing filters.Feedback
Make sure to be patient and take a lot of pictures. Explore depth of field and perspective. You will feel it when you have the right shot. Relax and have fun.
