Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in one of the parks here in Oconee County SC. I was born and raised in the north where we enjoy the changing of the seasons & Autumn is my favorite.

Time

Most of my favorite shots are taken in early morning or late afternoon. This one was in the afternoon.

Lighting

Lighting is such a personal choice chosen to reflect a mood or feeling. I enjoy taking these types of photos when sunlight works through the leaves providing a spectacular array of color.

Equipment

Nikon P510

Inspiration

Beauty is all around us every day. Sharing the world through my lens is a small way I can give pleasure to those who might not have time to slow down and enjoy!

Editing

This photo was cropped and when I want to do any post-processing my go-to tool is Picasa photo editor.

In my camera bag

Most of the time I carry just my camera, extra batteries, charger and sometimes tripod.

Feedback

My favorite tips for taking shots like this are to experiment with many different times of day, getting under the trees to use natural light to make them come to life, going after it rains and the colors pop out at you...and most of all, take your time to really look around you. Go slowly. Look at the entire landscape (or tree) but take time to single out particularly beautiful leaves. Enjoy the process and always over shoot - and by that I mean take many more shots than you think you need.
