Behind The Lens

Location

The drive from Reykjavik to the Snaefellsjokull peninsula blessed us with breathtaking scenery. I took this shot en route.

Time

It was mid-day and the winds were fierce, but the sky as clear as could be and the colors of the Icelandic landscape were in full form!

Lighting

The natural lighting was perfect.

Equipment

I shot with a basic Nikon P510

Inspiration

The vastness and warmth of this landscape compelled me to get out the car and capture it's beauty and sense of peace.

Editing

Just some tweaking of sharpness and contrast with Flare.

In my camera bag

Generally my Nikon P510 and I've tried out my boyfriend's old school Nikon FM3

Feedback

I'm not a mechanically skilled photographer. so it's an aesthetic that drives me. Growing up watching my father paint landscapes offered me an appreciation for composition. When I travel and photograph landscapes such as this I view it as a painting which seems to translate nicely.
