Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the windowsill in my dining room. The flower was tilted towards the window and I squished myself up to get a head-on angle.

Time

It was early afternoon, when the sun was coming in from that side of the house.

Lighting

I wanted to bring out the brightness and beauty of the flower and the ceiling lights I have in my house would just not cut it. I needed sunlight.

Equipment

Pentax K-3 with my 18-135mm kit lense

Inspiration

My vase of gerberas was looking particularly lovely and I wanted a great shot for my sister. ????

Editing

I boosted my usual brightness, contrast, and saturation and then, once I decided on a sunset-like crop, I played around a lot with the balance of orange and yellow to try and make it look as much like a sunset as I could. I also did a lot of spot removal on the petals.

In my camera bag

At the moment, I only shoot with my Pentax K-3 and kit lense, or my cell phone.
