Location
This photo was taken in quiet bay on the south fork of eastern long island while I was waiting for a client that was late, I can't remember where somewhere near East Quogue I think.Time
This was a late morning image and it was an incredibly hot August day. I think that s why all the boats where still beached, everyone had gone out at dawn or not at all.Lighting
This is no flash and UV filter to cut through the muggy haze.Equipment
Shot on a Canon 6D with a L series 117-40 lens racked out to 40mmInspiration
I really just loved the homemade sign in the background and the way that no boat that is the same color is next to each other, it really looked like a crayon box. I tried several versions before I settled on just the bows against the sand.Editing
I always process in Lightroom CC. all basic color, shadow and cropping adjustments, the sky was deepened and each boat had a large white registration number that was on the bow. it was removed in Photoshop. In my camera bag
I'm a professional photographer so my daily bag is my Canon 6D and my go to L Series 17-40, I also had my L series 24-105 and my 50MM 1.4 Prime and occasionally my Sigma 150-600C. I have a Photix Mitros + hot shoe flash and Mag Mod diffusers. I use the sphere primarily. I have a backup flash in a Canon 580EXII, gels, batteries and Induro tripod and 3 way head, and I microsoft surface pro laptop.Feedback
just go for a walk, I didn't set up this shot, I found it by walking around a small town beach when I had an extra 15 minutes.
