The Florida Scrub Jay is found only in central Florida. Scrub-jays inhabit sand pine and xeric oak scrub, and scrubby flat woods. Scrub-jays do best in areas that contain large quantities of oak shrubs that average 3.28-6.56 feet tall. Florida scrub-jays live in family groups that consist of a breeding pair and their offspring. They are highly territorial, defending an average of 25 acres of land per family. Scrub Jays are few in number; there are only 15 birds in the Park where these photos were taken. Three families are found in the 1381 acre park.
