Sunset over the Escarpment

behind the lens badge

Taken from the top of the cliffs, I was able to capture the essence of a sunset during Fall in one picture.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Rattlesnake Point in Milton, Ontario. This was actually around the first couple times that I got to go out and thoroughly enjoy nature photography.

Time

When I first started taking photos, I mainly focused on shooting sunrises and sunsets because the lighting was constantly changing which made for a different challenge each time. This photo was of the Sun setting, mid-evening.

Lighting

The lighting in this photo was a challenge because the glare from the sun added a level of difficulty to getting the shading just right in the rest of the picture. I just wanted to try to capture a little bit of everything from the clouds to the colours of the fall trees to the falling of the sun.

Equipment

This photo was taken using a Nikon D90 with a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 Macro lens mounted on a tri-pod.

Inspiration

It's hard not to be inspired by nature; the colours, weather, seasons and constant changing all play a part in what you see. I think the unpredictability of nature is what constantly draws me towards it.

Editing

There was no post processing done to this image.

In my camera bag

It's all depending on how long I go exploring and what time I go out. I'll usually take my camera, lens cleaner, Gorillapod, water, Bear mace, a sweater and a flashlight.
