Taken in my back yard in Clovis Ca.Time
Taken early morning after a light rain.Lighting
Early morning on a cloudy rainy day. Used available light.Equipment
Nikon D800, 200mm lens.Inspiration
I noticed a few birds flying around my birdfeeder, located below the fence. I grabbed my camera and stood by the open window and zoomed in. I waited there for over an hour waiting for the right shot when I had more then just a couple of birds. Several shots till the last minute I was ready to quit, it was the shot.Editing
Post processing I used a bit of saturation to get the deep wood tone and green of the vegetation. I did layer in the humming bird who just did not stay long enough for the shot, so I layered him into the shot.In my camera bag
I always carry my 24-120mm, macro and 200mm. and 50mm. One flash and my grey card.Feedback
Patience is a major factor to get the shot. Sometimes you may have to come back and try again to the location. On this shot I was lucky it was my back yard. I sat in front of my window having coffee watching them fly in and out of the fence line.
