Location
The shot was taken in Villeneuve in Switzerland. This small island is called the "île de Peilz".Time
It was about 5 o'clock. Before I was in France to do another shot.Lighting
I tried to to keep as simple as possible. With a long exposure. So that the water looks like ice.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 5D Mk II with an Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L and an Hoya ND400 filter on it. All mounted on a tripod and triggered with a remote.Inspiration
I like simple and minimalistic shots. With the long time exposure I was able to blend all other out and to concentrate the view a 100% on the subject.Editing
At f32 it's usual that you have some dust spots on the image. This I had to correct. In my camera bag
When I go out to do shots like this I normally have 3 camera bodys with me. A Canon EOS 5D Mk II, a Canon EOS 6D and a Leica M (Typ 240). Some zoom and prime lenses, filters and a tripod. Otherwise I have always a Leica M6 with an Leica Summicron M 50mm f/2 with me and a bunch of films.Feedback
For this kind of image you should use a really dark ND filter. Especially when you have much sun light.
