Behind The Lens

Location

We were taking a family break in Norfolk, UK and went to a stately home which houses various animals called Thrigby Park..I saw these monkeys cuddling up in thier inside enclosure.

Time

Just after lunchtime for us! As for the monkeys they were picking their lunch from each others fur :)

Lighting

Well the day was overcast and there was light drizzle at the time. I didn't use the flash however because of glass reflection. So I waited for the occasional brighter moment in the clouds and took several pictures then.

Equipment

Nikon D5300 and apologies but I can't remember the lens or aperture etc..I'm busy entertaining my newborn right now..however the information should be provided alongside the image!

Inspiration

They made a cute group huddled together and I felt with minimal photoshop techniques I could create a studio type photograph. I think I just about pulled it off...?

Editing

I don't have anything advanced but I used pixlar to brush out the screw holes which were in the white panels behind the monkeys. Then I sharpened the image a little and put some shine into thier eyes so it resembled how I saw them with my naked eye. Any staining on the panels I worked out until it appeared to be a completely white background.

In my camera bag

Nikon D5300 and several lenses..I love interchanging lenses. One of the most versatile I find is the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR I also have several portrait lenses and prefer to manually focus with those. I have some filters and lots of lens cleaning cloths because I tend to like going off the beaten track! I bought my camera for an African safari which had to be cancelled sadly last minute so I lost my enthusiasm for it for a little while. Like most ladies there are probably all sorts of unnecessary things in my bag!

Feedback

If it holds your attention then hopefully it will grab others. I think the monkeys worked we because of the primate connection between us all and wanting to guess what they are thinking - yes they seemed to me - very thoughtful that day.
