Location
This image was taken at Peggy's Cove, Nova ScotiaTime
I waited for the sun to set a little to take this image; it was likely around 6:30 pmLighting
I had wanted to capture the reflection of the lighthouse in a pool of water and wanted a little dram in the image so I waited for the setting sun...Equipment
I used a Gitzo tripod to frame the image and took the shot with a Nikon D800 camera and a Nikon 24-70 mm lens.Inspiration
Peggy's Cove itself is quite inspiring and I had seen a similar reflection type image that I had found interestingEditing
I shoot in RAW and therefore post process each image. I normally would adjust for exposure, tones, noise reduction, sharpening and crop to taste as requiredIn my camera bag
On this day not much because I knew I was going to shoot this type of image. However, I usually travel with lots of gear that includes tripods, camera bodies (D800, D4, D7100, D3s), a variety of Nikon lenses that range from 14 to 600 mmm plus teleconverters. That allows me to shoot wide angle to small birds; whatever shows up...Feedback
Peggy's Cove is a very popular sightseeing and photographer's destination with lots of tour buses and people. Although there are various weather conditions that can provide for a pleasing image, this type of scene is best served with a setting sun. With a little patience and luck, you can capture an image with little to no tourists in the image.
