Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was part of a session in a local cemetery in Norfolk, UK. No-one has been buried there for a long time now, but it's a popular location for dog walkers

Time

This was early afternoon as I recall, I turned up with all my kit and I was worried that we were going to get rained on. Fortunately it was a warm day, so the rain wouldn't have made too much difference

Lighting

Being outside the lighting was all entirely natural

Equipment

I had a lot of kit with me on the day, but for this particular image I used my trusty Olympus E450 and a big solid video-camera tripod which I salvaged from the local rubbish tip long ago

Inspiration

I had contacted the model through a national website, and I wanted to play around with the idea of youthful excitement contrasting with the sombre mood of a cemetery

Editing

"post-processing" ?? No,absolutely not ;)

In my camera bag

I always have my Olympus E-450 with TWO spare battery packs, and a couple of 35mm Zenit-EMs. (yes, I shoot film!) A couple of clean dusters,a few rolls of 35mm film (typically 400 asa), nothing out of the ordinary

Feedback

Well the elements of this photo were the model, the location, and the bubbles! Since the model had arranged to being a "friend" I had already decided that the friend could make themselves useful! They stood of to one side with the bubble gun :) My point being, everything needs to be planned out in your head in advance. To be honest, during a shoot I don't like people making "helpful" suggestions about what we can try, I know the image I want to capture. So plan, who is there, what are they doing, is all your equipment accounted for, etc., etc., etc., attention to these details before hand maximise your chances for success on the day ;)
