This photo was taken late in the evening at the local docks from where the fishing boats set outTime
This was late one evening, I had been hanging around the docks getting photos of boats and seagulls, I was getting cold and uncomfortable and the light was failing, so I could just have easily have given up and gone home without taking any more photosLighting
The lighting! Wow, yes, the docks had really horrible old street lamps, (I want to say Sodium? But I have no idea if that's accurate or not), and I was convinced they WOULDN'T help the image one little bit - thankfully I was wrongEquipment
This was taken with my general-purpose Olympus E450 and a Bilora-Stativ tripod which I rescued from the local rubbish dump years ago.Inspiration
I was cold and tired and ready to give up and go home when I heard some ducks making a noise. Curiosity made me follow the sound to where I found the ducks settling down on this derelict piece of platform. I had no prior inspiration, but when I saw it, I thought "what the hey, let's try to capture the image"Editing
No, I do as little post processing as possible and I did absolutely none on this imageIn my camera bag
I always carry two Zenit EMs with a few rolls of film, (yes you read that correctly, 35mm SLR cameras!), and my all-round Olympus E-450 with THREE battery packs fully charged.Feedback
I didn't set out to capture this image, I discovered it when I was ready to give up and go home. So my best advice is to just always have your eyes open and be ready for inspiration to come to you at any time
