Inspiration

I've wanted to see the Northern Lights for ages and after 2 weeks in Iceland back in 2015, and on our last night before flying home, I'd given up hope of seeing them. I spent most of the evening looking out of the window and was just about to give up and go to bed when I saw the sky change. We were already dressed and had everything ready because I'd refused to give up so we jumped into the car, drove down to the lighthouse and set up with everyone else. The most beautiful sight I've ever seen. It was silent, but the way the lights jumped across to the sky,it was like they were moving to their own tune. My favourite photo of the whole trip.

Editing

I did a search on YouTube on the best way to edit a night/Northern Lights shot - can't remember which one but all editing was done in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I never go anywhere without my 50mm. It's one of my favourite lenses. Along with the 105 and 35 mm.

Feedback

With the Northern Lights, you need patience and need to keep an eye on the weather reports. A lot of cloud cover usually means you're unlikely to see anything but never give up. Have your kit ready to go.
