Location
We have a family cabin in Potter County, Pa. My father-in-law takes out family on hikes, and to be honest, if it wasn't for him I would have no idea where I was in those mountains. When I hike, my walking stick is a tripod and I have my camera and macro lens in hand.Time
This was taken on an afternoon hike. It is very tricky to find good light even in the day because the tree cover is so dense in some places.Lighting
I shoot 99% of my macro work with available light. I think accentuating the natural light adds to the beauty of the subject.Equipment
Camera: NIKON D600 Aperture: f/4 ISO: 640 Exposure: 1/200 Lens 150mm 1:1Inspiration
I love macro and exploring the tiny world around me. I am a very avid macro/nature explorer.Editing
With the exception of light sharpening, I do not alter my nature images. In my camera bag
My bag is full! I shoot with a Nikon D800 and D810. My lenses include but are not limited to a 50mm, 85mm, 150mm, and 70-200mm. When shooting macro, I use a tripod and my secret weapon- knee pads!Feedback
Patience! I often spend anywhere from half and hour to 2 hours with a single subject. You can not direct an insect so it is a waiting game. Quality of light is very important for creating a beautiful macro shot. This is also an element worth waiting for.
