Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a famous gardens in Pennsylvania named Longwood Gardens. They have all types of flowers and have varied types of gardens and greenhouses to tour. This picture was taken when I was not into photography very long and didn't know what I was doing.

Time

I think it was around 2 PM EDT. I am not sure because it was a few years back.

Lighting

If I can remember right, there was a overcast to the day when I took this picture.

Equipment

I think I took this photo with a K2000 Pentax camera with a kit lens. No flash or tripod. If I remember right, you are not allowed to use tripods there. Check before going if you go.

Inspiration

The inspiration to take this picture was I love to take flowers and the way this flower was angled, It just caught my eye. I like the looks of water lilies also, so that also helped.

Editing

I did a little post in Photomatix Pro, just to brighten up the colors a little, but that was all.

In my camera bag

Now that I do more photography, I have a Nikon D5500 camera. I use the 18- 105 kit lens for just non essential work. Then I have a 70-300 lens. I have a 40 and 85 micro lenses for close work. I have a Nikon flash and a ring flash. Then I carry plenty of supplies to clean if needed.

Feedback

Patience. I think that is a very important thing when doing photos of wildlife and have patience with yourself and try different things as long as it is safe and it won't ruin your equipment. You can always erase the bad pictures.
