On a cold January weekend, I participated in the Quad Cities (Iowa) Eagle Photo Challenge. It was actually more of a workshop so the challenge was to improve your own skills. During the Winter water near the river locks never freeze so eagles and other birds of prey gather to catch fish. So if you are prepared and willing to stand out in the cold on a freezing January morning, your chances of photographing American Bald Eagles and other such birds is fabulous. Just remember to protect your camera equipment as well as yourself from the brutal temperatures.
