Location
The photo was taken at Spring Lake, Utah. It is located between Payson and Santaquin Utah. This is an irrigation ditch that runs year round into the lake.Time
This is early in the morning, about 7:00 am.Lighting
I Love fog, because it adds to the mystery of the shot, giving the viewer time to try and look deeper into it for something that might be hidden from view.Equipment
I used a Canon 7D with a kit lens 28-135 Ultrasonic. I rested it against a tree to steady the camera. This is natural light, no flash was used.Inspiration
The fog and smoothness of the stream. I like fog. I want the viewer to stop and look deeper into the fog to try and find something they may have missed at first glance.Editing
I had to brighten the background by dropping the contrast and then I increased the contrast in the foreground. The difference between the two adjustments were -9 to +9.In my camera bag
I always carry the 28-135 ultrasonic, 300 sigma, and my wide angle 10-18. Th 28-135, even though it is a kit lens, it is my go to lens in this kind of shot.Feedback
Get to know your surroundings year round. Imagine a not so hot shot of something, that during another time of the year, it is a money shot, then visit them year round, you might be surprised.
