Location
The photo was taken in my garden in Pennsylvania. My garden is created to attract butterflies and other wildlife.Time
I take my camera for walks and we enjoy whatever is provided. Butterflies don't usually stay put for very long so I accept the time they allow me. Usually, butterflies seem to appreciate the afternoons.Lighting
The sun striking the butterflies wings add that highlight and it's like they are in the spotlight.Equipment
I keep it simple. Have other cameras but I prefer a camera that is small and ready when the subject it my Canon Power Shot SX 130 is a sweet little camera with that quick zoom I enjoy. Nothing fancy but there when I need it. Sometimes simple can be good.Inspiration
I think the butterfly speaks for itself . A beautiful creation that needs to try to be captured in that one moment of time and treasured . Isn't that what a photo is. That one moment never to be there again or the same.Editing
It was there! The butterfly was at the right place at the right time. This may sound too simple with not planning except to have my camera but I believe there are photos waiting to happen. We just have to be ready to capture them.In my camera bag
My Canon Power Shot! Like I say I have other cameras, more expensive better lens, more complicated and seem to take more time to think things through. But with shots like the butterfly it is now. Not much thought. I take as many photos as I can and ideally there will be that one photo that you know has captured the essence of that beautiful moment in time.Feedback
Lighting is a big factor in all pictures. Where the sun is located, what time of day, shadows, all factors. The subject does't always cooperate so you have to do the adjusting. In nature, think fast and snap as many as possible. Be discreet in approach surprising how you learn to walk up to a butterfly without disturbing them. Patience and love of the subject is a winning combination. Always a picture!!!
