Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Victoria Park Lake / Shepparton. The artificial lake is a local recreation area with lots of activity.

Time

We went there before dawn getting the gear ready and the shooting began 9 pm ish.

Lighting

Usual 0000 steel wool, steel whisk, steel chain and safety gear (dark cotton clothes, gloves, safety googles, black balaclava)

Equipment

I used my (now retired) CANON EOS 40D with the 25-70mm f/4 lens

Inspiration

Way back in Germany I did a couple of burning steel wool photos but creating a photo with water and a nearly perfect symmetric circle mirroring in the water was not successful until then.

Editing

Not much post processing - highlights and shadows, that was pretty much it

In my camera bag

Camera, 3 lenses (85, 25-70 and 70 - 200), ri pod, filters...

Feedback

Practice the perfect circle over and over again, be patient, wear safety gear (essential).
