Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Princes Pier, Melbourne, Victoria.

Time

The photo was taken just after sunset, around 8pm.

Lighting

Luckily the sunset is to the West of the old pier which leaves perfect lighting to the left of the frame. On a clear night it bring out all sorts of colours.

Equipment

I shot it with a Canon 5dII, Canon 16-35, Lee Filter system, Really Right Stuff ball head and Induro tripod.

Inspiration

I had seen quite a few pictures of this location and wanted to shoot there for a long time. I really wanted to put my own spin on the old pier as it has been sgot thousands of times. I'm super stoked with the result..

Editing

I was up in the city for a photography expo and it was a location I had always wanted to hit as it is an iconic spot for photographers in Australia. That night, the pier was packed with photographers!

In my camera bag

I usually have my Cannon 5d2, 16-35, 100-400, Canon 7d2, Lee Filter system and my trusty micro fibre towel!!

Feedback

Just go to places you have seen and that really interest you. If your not interested in the scene and are just taking it for the photo, it will come through in the picture. And never leave early, always stay that extra half and hour, that could be when the magic happens!
