Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken near Rozel, Texas 2013. One of a few tornadoes that dropped that afternoon..
Time
This was late afternoon when the storm start firing.
Lighting
As with many storm pictures the lighting is quite dark and I was shooting into the sun. Lighting wasn't great but I boosted contrast and saturation to the image to add some drama to it. I'm not a fan of high contrast high saturation photots, but it seemed to suit this scene..
Equipment
Canon 5D2, 28-300 f3.5
Inspiration
I chased storms across the States for a few years with a mate for USA. I just love the power and energy that emanates from huge storms. Capturing it in a single image doesn't really do it justice..
Editing
Used Lightroom to boost contrast and saturation. As i said I'm not usually a fan of highly edited pics as this but the lighting wasn't great and I felt that the image benifited from this use of processing.
In my camera bag
Canon 5dsr, Canon 7D2, Canon 16-35 II 2.8, Canon 100-400 f4.5, Canon 70-200 2.8, Canon 24-105 f4, Canon 11-24 f4, Lightning Trigger, Lee Filters.
Feedback
The best way to see rhese storms and get up close and be safe is to book yourself a storm chase tour in Tornado Alley. There are plenty of great operators that are professionals and inow exactly where to be and when to be there..
