Location
The photo was taken in the countryside of Barrali, a little village in Sardinia (Italy).Time
I take this shot in early afternoon, approximately at 04:00PM, in a beautiful winter day.Lighting
The light was very hard because of the sun , which cast shadows in a clear way . I had to use my body to put the subject in the shade .Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 50D and Canon 100mm F/2.8 USM f/13 1/250 sec ISO 100, free hand.Inspiration
This shot was pretty lucky. I was back home because I had a fever so, i was about to step on the caterpillar, then I realized at the last moment of his presence, I had no tripod, so, i lay down and I started making shots.Editing
I just cropped a little bit the image. In my camera bag
I love macrophotography, so, i like to say tha i have "a big bag for bugs". Almost always i carry a bagpack with: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon EF-S 15-85, Samyang 8mm fisheye, Canon EF-300 f/4L IS USM (a non-macro lens that produce impressive macros), Zeiss T*Planar Makro 50mm f/2 (what a lens!), Manfrotto 190 X-Prob + Manfrotto 410 Junior Head and Novoflex Castle Mini.Feedback
I suggest to have a lot of patience, take alwais a tripod. I've been lucky, because this subject was "collaborative" and i took this shot lying, you should not be afraid to get dirty.
