I took this photo in West Vancouver, BC at Lighthouse Park. I was hiking a trail with some friends and then I came across the best view of the Lighthouse from the east end of the park and knew this would be the most perfect moment to capture. This photograph is one of, if not the best landscape photograph I have ever taken, so this makes me very proud!Time
A perfect photograph taken at the perfect time of day. I captured this photograph around 2 PM in West Vancouver. The fog was rolling in from the coastal mountains and the wind had a slight breeze to it, not too strong.Lighting
Anyone who knows me and my work well, will tell you that I work best with natural lighting. I believe natural lighting in landscape as well as nature photography, has a certain draw to it and reveals the raw beauty and significance in a way that studio lighting or added effects cannot portray the same image.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel EOS 18-55 mm lens. No tripod was used, however, I was eye level with the lighthouse; getting the right angle with this photograph was key, otherwise it would have turned out completely different.Inspiration
I was inspired by how diverse and piercingly beautiful the British Columbian landscape truly is. There's nothing like wandering through the pacific northwest and immersing yourself into something so incredible, that words cannot even describe. I wanted to portray an ethereal and mystically beautiful scene, with my photograph of Lighthouse Park, which reflects my perspective on the BC coast.Editing
Yes, I did. I edited the hue of the photograph to have a more blue saturation, which I personally think compliments the photograph very well. I also edit the contrast and exposure levels so that the contrast is higher and the exposure is a little over, but not by much. This way, the colours are more defined and the background appears lighter, as the foreground is highly defined.In my camera bag
I normally always carry my three lenses, being my 18-55 standard lens, my 75-300 mm telephoto lens and my 50mm eye level lens. My camera's body is an older model but I tell you, it has developed and created the best work I have ever done, and the work that I continue to do.Feedback
Always wait out a great capture, because patience is key. The lighting, time of the day and the weather all affect of how a scene could turn out completely beautiful or not be what you hoped for. Take into account all of those factors, as well as the angle you would capture in a landscape setting. Composition, time of day, framing and lighting are what make the perfect photograph, when all of them are balanced out in the proper ways. In the end, you have a beautiful image captured in time that you couldn't be more proud of, and my photograph of Lighthouse Park happens to be that for me.
