Behind The Lens

Location

It was visiting the Chichen Itza archeological site. As usually a lot of people but not too much around this woman. She was sat against a tree and weaving some small tablecloths for sell with her granddaughter. I was drawn by her look. She appears to be so tired that she has no more energy to ask anything. I asked her to let me take her in photo. I took my time and take about 20 pictures with and without flash

Time

I don't remember very well but I think in the early afternoon. The sun was very hot, as usually in Yucatan, and I thought that this heat is very hard to bear.

Lighting

As I said, the sun was very strong and I had to find a point of view without strong light in background . That's why I used the flash sometimes

Equipment

I used my Nikon D600 with an 28-300mm Nikon zoom and only the typical uv filter

Inspiration

She was tired and no many words came out of her mouth. She seemed to be talking through her eyes. When I saw her, I thought that her face was perfect for a black and white photo

Editing

I just did a crop and increase the clarity.

In my camera bag

I usually take at least the 28-300mm, the 50mm 1.8 and my sigma 150mm 2.8 macro. I'm always ready to take a macro photo as well as a flying bird. I have also a binoculars and all the stuff for a quick cleaning of lenses. I have 3 or 4 memory 16GB cards and a second camera: a small Lumix that can help me for some pictures.

Feedback

Don't hesitate to use the flash and take your time tu study the POV. If you arrive to exchange with your subject, it is much better to understand your picture
