Behind The Lens

Location

I like to wander around with my camera, explore the world and document it. For this shot i wandered around the village where i live in eastern Bavaria and saw this horse, which was very interested in me an my camera.

Time

The picture was taken on a late afternoon. Light was not neither harsh nor mellow, but right in between.

Lighting

Because the light was rather inspectoral i tried to go for unusual perspectives. This time (and many other times :)) i like to shot with a very low angle to give more drama to the photo.

Equipment

This photo was shot with a Sony RX1RII. A great powerhouse with an excellent lens, that is at the same time small and light to be carried everywhere.

Inspiration

i liked the hairstyle of the horse, which i found two be quite funny. Sort of "out of bed style"...

Editing

I used Lightroom and tweaked a little bit the deep blacks and the general parameters of the shot.

In my camera bag

Today i use a Sony Alpha 7RII and a Voigtländer Nokton 40mm f1.2. I limit myself to one lens, because i found it to increase my creativity. I like the combination of the excellent sensor and the beautiful rendering of the Nokton. It gives me enough potential in low light and a great variety of death of field.

Feedback

Don't be afraid of horses :) Try unusual angles and experiment with black and white. Just do it!
