As the garden is north facing, it was coming from the west and showing the rose's colour perfectly.Equipment
Just my trusty Fuji. It's such a versatile camera and can handle most situations. As it was such a good day a tripod was'n't needed.Inspiration
The rose was bought for my wife on the first anniversary of her mother's death, as it had been a favourite of hers. This was the first time that it flowered.Editing
A relaxed shot, then tightened up on the camera, so I would say no. I try not to do any post-processing unless I deliberately want to manipulate a shot, which of course is immediately obvious. In my camera bag
As the camera is so versatile, all I tend to carry is the camera, tripod and my lunch!Feedback
As with all photography, "Patience is a virtue!": this rose had produced 4 or 5 flowers before I was home with the right bud and conditions for the shot. If you have a back like mine and struggle to bend, don't be afraid to take a more relaxed shot and then tighten it.
