Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Africa while on safari. I'm self taught, and am loving photography!

Time

We were at the end of the day of our trip when the driver pointed out this big cat. She was in this tree with her two cubs, a deer carcass and a hyena pacing below waiting for tidbits from the carcass to fall.

Lighting

The light was beginning to fail at this point of the day. I used the wide open f2.8 aperture.

Equipment

I was using a brand new Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon f2.8 70-200 lens to get the close up.

Inspiration

Everything about Africa is inspiring! Sometimes it's just sheer luck that puts you in the right place at the right time!

Editing

I increased the exposure, sharpened, and cropped the photo.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark II, Canon f2.8 70-200 mm lens, Canon 50 mm lens, and Canon 16-35 mm lens.

Feedback

I've found many amazing shots everywhere I've been, whether at home or abroad. You can get this type of shot at your local zoo. My advise would be to shoot anything that captures your fancy!
