Location
At the Kitzbüheler Alpen near Jochberg, Austria, during a hike in autumn (October).Time
Late afternoon on a cloudy dayLighting
Due to the not so bright light you could make an image with great detail and not too much shadow against the sky. I very much loved the sort of isolated atmosphere and thought it would come out even better in black&white.Equipment
My Nikon D7100 with my "everyday, every situation Tamron 18-300 lens; I do not take my tripod with me on noral hikes (and you would not have the time ususally to build it up when photographing wild animals and I am not a big fan of flash, especially out there in the nature becaus it destorys the natural look and atmosphere.Inspiration
First of all the beautiful deer and of course the perfect place and scenery with tree trunk in front which allowed me to play with depht-Editing
I turned the picture into black and white and did some light/shadoe correctiones and some sharpeningIn my camera bag
My camera Nikon D7100 (almost always and everywhere), a macro lens for insects etc. and a spare SD-cardFeedback
The special thing about this picture is really not s much the animal but the scenery with the tree in front. It is sort of lucky to get a deer on such a place but normally there are some trees soewhere. It is perfect to catch it on an empty place just like a stage and then find maybe something else to build up a tension (like a tree e.g.). Then you have to wait for the right pose and just "click". Be fast because this was just one second before he was gone. It is a mixture of having your camera, be aware and putting yourself into a position to have both, the deer and the tree - I had to crouch down to get the right angle....
