Location
This shot was taken at a section of our local beach in Yallingup Western Australia, called "Rabbits". It's a popular spot for the top surfers, as it is a great shore break and it is a very gnarly.Time
Around 0800hrs on the 25th of August 2015, it is a great time of the day to be out at the beach. Surfers are always out early and generally the wind is calmer.Lighting
The sun was in a good position to the east, which was behind me slightly to the left. Any later and sun will be to harsh on the water.Equipment
Canon 5DIII with the Sigma 150-600 sport lens, no other equipment.Inspiration
Most of my photography is around nature and action. I like shooting action and freeze the motion. Rabbits is close to the shore so you are able to get shots that look as though you are in the water with the surfers.Editing
I have only just started using post processing and really only just use the sharpening, which is all I have used on this shot. I have just started to play with the colours and feel I have a way to go before I really change anything to drastic. In my camera bag
Sigma 24mm, Canon 50mm, Canon 100mm Macro and my trusty Sigma 150-600 Lenses. Remote cable, lens cleaning kit, spare SD card, Jobi tripod and note pad & pen.Feedback
Be early, surfers are always early, be patient and keep your eye on the prize, it happens so quick. Get the angle where the action is coming at you and not away. Use a tripod with a good swivel head or a gimbal.
