The old mines above Foxdale on the Isle of Man is one of my favourite places to views the stars from, especially with it being just a 5 minute drive up the hill. The light pollution you can see on the horizon here is actually coming all the way from Dublin in Ireland, which is crazy to imagine when it seems so far across the sea during the day, and yet it can illuminate the night sky with such a strong glow. The green glow seen just above the orange light pollution is called Airglow, which is a faint emission of light by the planets atmosphere and can be captured almost any clear night depending on how strong the airglow is at the time.
