Location
I was standing in the center of Plaza Mayor in Salamanca, Spain.Time
Sitting at the most famous square in the city at night without the tripod trying to figure out how I could capture this scene with very weak lighting conditions and the need to use a slow shutter speed. I decided to do a panoramic shot with more than 30 photos, it is a 360 degree panorama.Lighting
I waited till the sky would be quiet dark to use as slow shutter speed as possible to motion blur people at the square, I thought that this would work well with the beautiful illumination on the buildings itself.Equipment
My good old Nikon d90 without a tripodInspiration
Standing at the center of the square for quiet a while I thought this might be the only way to capture the whole scene. Amazing architecture and crowd of people just walking around, sitting at the ground.Editing
I had to merge 33 images, also additionally fixing the sky, removing some artifacts. In my camera bag
Those days, and it was more than 3 years ago, I had only my Nikon d90. Nowadays I carry with me Nikon d800, Samsung nx500 for videos and time-lapses and a Benro tripod, as well.Feedback
Would be great to find a spot close to the center of the square without people or objects standing too close to you, or it would be impossible to merge the photo without significant artifacts. Also more pictures you do (I prefer to shoot them vertically) easier it would be to get a perfect panorama. But, of course, it would be necessary to use special programs for stitching, like PtGui.
